The original painting, created from a photo taken on Sullivan's Island, was destroyed in a condo at Litchfield Beach during Hurricane Hugo. A new and slightly different image was painted and continues to be one of Steven's most popular posters. See Steven's "lighter" version of this popular image, "This Bud's for Shoe!" "Sand 'n Suds" has become Steven's "signature image" , becoming one of his best selling images. After 20 years this image has been retired,with less than 10 remaining for sale.
